The Forest is Our Art Studio

This month, the children explored a new form of art: charcoal drawings! They started by finding and whittling their own sticks, then carefully burning the ends in a candle flame to create a charcoal tip. This hands-on process encouraged creativity while also building fine motor skills, focus, and confidence as the children transformed a simple stick into their own drawing tool. Creating charcoal from something they found in the forest also gave the children a meaningful connection between the materials they use and the natural world around them.
